Mystery Writer Jeff Markowitz Partners with E. L. Marker™ for His Latest Book

Jeff Markowitz

SALT LAKE CITY, July 16, 2019

Mystery writer Jeff Markowitz is attracted to books by authors who have a strong voice and an engaging story. His recent novel, set during the tumultuous era of Vietnam and Watergate, fits into that category. WiDo’s submissions team enjoyed this manuscript with its cast of characters and historical references.

WiDo™ Managing Editor Karen Gowen says, “We are excited to work with Jeff on his book. He’s a fine writer who makes his characters real, with the story woven in and around them. You just want to keep reading to see what happens to everyone and how the mystery plays out.”

The author also loves to read books that make him laugh and also make him think. His current book, now under contract with WiDo’s imprint, E.L. Marker, was inspired by a crime that took place in the town where he grew up.

When Markowitz started writing it, he knew it was different than his previous books and that it would need a different sort of publisher. He says, “I look forward to partnering with the team at WiDo to bring this book to the marketplace.”

Markowitz was recently interviewed for the current issue of Suspense Magazine. A link to the magazine follows:

Jeff Markowitz is the author of four mysteries, including three books in the Cassie O’Malley Mystery Series. Jeff was in his fifties when he wrote his first mystery, Who is Killing Doah’s Deer. Published in 2004, it introduced readers to tabloid reporter and amateur sleuth Cassie O’Malley. Cassie returned in 2006 in A Minor Case of Murder and again in 2009 in It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Murder. His most recent novel, the standalone Death and White Diamonds won a Lovey Award and a David Award.

Jeff spent more than forty years creating community-based programs and services for children and adults with autism, including twenty-five years as President and Executive Director of the Life Skills Resource Center, before retiring in 2018 to devote more time to writing. Jeff is President of the New York Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America.
