Monster Boy: Lair of the Grelgoroth (WiDo Publishing, 2016) has readers clamoring for more. They rave about the book being fun, vivid and engaging, and they love the characters. And while the story is so enjoyable, they may not notice the deeply insightful messages the book carries.
Monster Boy fans will be happy to hear that the second book in the trilogy has begun its publication journey.
Fox enjoyed the publication process with her first book. She recalls, “It was great to go through editing. It felt like separating the wheat from the chaff, and the final product is a much better book for it. It was hard work, but definitely worth it!”
As she wrote Book One, Fox found story threads she wanted to follow and started developing a sense of the arc for Book Two. This simplified her writing for the sequel, since some parts were already written.
“But the main drive for writing this second book was to continue the story of the two brothers and their friends,” Fox explains. “To have them delve back into an adventure, but also to incorporate more of the troubling aspects of Morton’s history, and indeed the history of all monsters from beyond the Wall.”
The second book had several re-writes before she was happy with how the story unfolded, but the writing wasn’t difficult for Fox, who says writing the series has been surprisingly easy. ”Sometimes stories seem to have a life of their own, and the Monster Boy Series is one of them,” she says.
Already finishing up book three, the final book in the series, Fox says many questions will be answered. So watch for it, patient readers, watch for it!
Fox is also excited about working with the WiDo™ team again. She appreciates the man-power and the process for creating a published work. She says she loves the feeling of community within WiDo and how she never feels alone in the process.
“The people I worked with on Monster Boy: Lair of the Grelgoroth have been so supportive and helpful. I’m looking forwards to working with them many more times in the future!”
