Norma Rudolph, writing as N. Tolman Rudolph, has become quite the writer with her third part of the Red Dust trilogy coming out soon.
Rudolph states, “I came to write Setting the Dust, the third part of the Red Dust trilogy because, first, I wanted to finish the story. Second, I fell in love with the children of Jared Adams and their cousins. I wanted to follow them into adults. They needed their stories told. It was hard to write in some ways because I did not want to see how the culture of Earth would change the people of Sionon. How could it not? It was hard, and yet fulfilling, to see how they changed the Earth for the better.”
Managing Editor Karen Gowen asked Rudolph if she has thought about writing a different genre of book, and this is what she said: “It is both sad and exciting to be nearly done with the trilogy. I am sad to let these characters go, yet I’m looking forward to finishing some other books that have been haunting my mind. I’m currently working on a post-apocalyptic romantic tale that may or may not have tones of steam punk. I’m currently calling it How to Love Your Mummy but don’t think that title will stick.”
Rudolph says she has enjoyed working with WiDo Publishing™. “It was such a relief to find kindred spirits who actually ‘got’ my books. They have been very professional and easy to work with throughout the publishing of the first two books of my trilogy. I’m sure the third will go every bit as well. I hope to work with them on future projects.”
Statements like these are why we love our authors. We asked Norma what book character would she compare herself to and why?
This was her response: “If I have to choose a book character that I can most relate to I suppose it would have to be Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. She is a stellar person but is very awkward socially and often misunderstood. She tends to say what others only think. Her friends are few, but of the best caliber and she is very loyal to them. She often has her head in the clouds but, when it counts, she is right on the mark.”
N. Tolman Rudolph is the wife of a talented sculptor, the mother of three beautiful daughters, an avid gardener, reading addict, and world class dreamer. She has a BFA from BYU.
